Synopsis

Synopsis

Autogenesis investigates how chaotic systems can generate lifelike form from non-living matter. Chaotic dynamical simulations in Grasshopper/Rhino, including the RabinovichFabrikant and Bouali systems, are used to evolve geometry over time, with each time step acting as a co-author in shaping form. These mathematically derived structures are translated into physical sculptures through metal binder jetting and sand casting. The work demonstrates how uncontrolled yet deterministic systems, when allowed to iterate, produce morphologies as compelling as any intentionally designed one, suggesting that 'life-like' complexity can emerge from pure computation and material processes.
